In a growing digital art world, Proof of Exhibition ensures that even online artworks have a traceable history

A traceable history
Atomic Sign's newest feature - Proof of Exhibition - captures notable moments (in time & place) for the people who create, curate, and collect digital art. Our Proof of Exhibition platform stores a history of exhibitions that fosters trust among buyers, sellers, and all players in the digital art ecosystem regarding its collective value.

As more galleries & museums go onchain, this is the best way to record digital art in analog spaces.

In a growing digital art world, Proof of Exhibition ensures that even online artworks have a traceable history.

FAQ
What is Proof of Exhibition?
It’s a permanent, timestamped, and cryptographically signed (and optionally countersigned) record of an NFT being exhibited at a gallery or event. It’s a structured record that includes everything from start and end date to the event name, venue, and description.
Why is Proof of Exhibition essential for digital art?
While the NFT space focuses on the term provenance, a Catalogue Raisonné is a more comprehensive term used in the traditional art world. In addition to ownership history, it can include things like: essay(s) on the artist, full description of the work, critical assessments, and exhibition history.

Exhibition history has been a significant signaling mechanism in the NFT space as well. Artists that have been featured at Christie’s, Sotheby’s, Art Basel, etc. tend to have an easier time selling their works and finding new collectors.

Capturing, protecting, and indexing this information is valuable to all parties involved (artists, collectors, and marketplaces, dapp developers, etc).
How does Atomic Sign's Proof of Exhibition feature work?
There are 3 key ingredients to how Atomic Sign works:

1. Templates
2. Workflow
3. Storage

Templates are simple HTML forms that match up to specific use-cases (proof of exhibition, offchain sales, copyright, etc). Once a user reviews their inputs, they cryptographically sign the summarized assertion with their wallet of choice.

Workflow is important for templates requiring two or more parties. In Proof of Exhibition, a 3rd party may not consider these assertions to be valuable unless both the artist and the exhibitor agree to the details. Our platform allows these assertions to be performed in the proper order.

Web3 storage ensures this important information is never lost. We use a combination of Arweave + IPFS to get the best of both worlds. Arweave ensures storage, time-stamping, tags, and a GraphQL index interface. IPFS ensures data integrity through it’s CIDs.
How can I start using Proof of Exhibition with my NFTs?
It’s simple:

1. Visit atomicsign.io and sign in.
2. Enter the contract and token ID of the NFT.
3. Select and fill out the Proof of Exhibition form.
4. Review and sign the information in your wallet.

That’s it!
What blockhains do you support?
We have Ethereum Mainnet support now, but our architecture allows us to easily add on support for new wallets and chains.

We anticipate adding support for Solana and Ethereum L2s (Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Polygon) in Q1 2024.
